DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN SEVILLA, SPAIN
Join your tour group at
Hotel Fernando III to check in and
recuperate after your travels. In the evening
there will be an orientation meeting made
entertaining by a welcome dinner.
DAY 2, SEVILLA
Enjoy your first morning in Spain on a pleasant walking
tour of Sevilla with a local guide. In the
afternoon explore the picturesque streets of
Barrio de Santa Cruz and check out the
artisan shops in Calle Sierpes. In the
evening you have the option to enjoy a
riveting flamenco show or entertain
yourself.
DAY 3, CADIZ
Journey through one of Europe's oldest cities, Cadiz.
Located in southern Spain this world
heritage site is known for its intriguing
white villages with Roman and Moorish
archaeological remains. In the evening wind
down with some operatic/classical music at
Teatro de la Maestranza. (optional)
DAY 4, ALCAZAR/CATHEDRAL & GIRALDA
Start the day by seeing one of the best remaining
examples of mudéjar architecture at Alcazar
(UNESCO world heritage site). Follow it up
with a visit to the largest place of worship at
the Cathedral and Giralda tower. End the
day with some more entertainment at Teatro
de la Maestranza.
DAY 5, JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA/ARCOS DE LA FRONTERA/GRAZALEMA
Along the drive to Ronda take sightseeing stops at
Jerez de la Frontera (the sherry capital),
Arcos de la Frontera with its whitewashed
stone houses and labyrinths of cobble-stone
streets, and the charming mountainous
limestone village of Grazalema. Upon
arrival in Ronda you will check into Hotel
Husa Reina Victoria.
DAY 6, RONDA
Spend the day touring the city of Ronda - famous
worldwide for its dramatic escarpments and
views, and for the deep El Tajo gorge that
carries the Rio Guadalevín through its
centre. The 18th century Puente Nuevo 'new'
bridge is famed for its unparalleled views
out over the Serranía de Ronda mountains.
DAY 7, RONDA/CEUVADE LA PILETA
Today you can choose
between a leisure day relaxing around
Ronda or if you're feeling adventurous and
fit take an excursion to the cave, Cueva de la
Pileta. This place remains the only cave in
Spain where you can see enchanting
paintings dating back from Cro-Magnon
man, approximately 25,000 years ago in the
upper Paleolithic period.
DAY 8, MARBELLA/NERJA/GRANADA
Today as you make
your way to Granada take a lunch break in
the luxurious resort town of Marbella. Next
you can check out the quaint town Nerja or
it's nearby by cave, Cueva de Nerja. At the
day's end settle into hotel Alhambra Palace.
DAY 9, ALHAMBRA/GENERALIFE
In the morning take
pictures as you wander about the fiery
crimson castle, the Alhambra, and the
luscious Generalife gardens (UNESCO
world heritage site). In the afternoon take
advantage of free time to do whatever it is
you wish. Finally, in the evening, be
entertained be your choice of music, or
flamenco, from either Teatro Municipal
Isabel La Catolica, Teatro Alhambra or
Auditorio Manuel de Falla. (optional)
DAY 10, GUADIX EXCURSION
Today take a day trip off
the beaten path to see the town of Guadix
whose history dates back to Phoenician and
Roman times. The most interesting feature
of the Guadix area is that almost half of the
inhabitants of this large town live
underground in well-appointed cave houses.
You'll know where they are by the signs
posted.
DAY 11, JAEN/CORDOBA
As you make your way to the town of
Cordoba you'll take a few hours to savor the
sights in the historically rich city of Jaen, in
northern Andalucia (UNESCO world
heritage site). The city's Moorish castle,
converted into a Parador, sits majestically on
top of Mount Santa Catalina. Also, make
sure to get your camera out for the many
charming churches this city hosts. Evening
entertainment will be alive at the Gran
Teatro de Cordoba. Finally, close your eyes
in the comfort of your room at Hotel El
Conquistador in Cordoba.
DAY 12, MEZQUITA/JUDERIA EXCURSION
First, in the
morning take advantage of a guided visit of
the Mezquita-Cathedral and Juderia. Then,
in the afternoon take advantage of free time
to do as you like. Finally, in the evening
take advantage of a fabulous flamenco
show. (optional)
DAY 13, ECIJA/CARMONA
Say goodbye to Cordoba and
a brief hello to the frying pan of Andalucia,
Ecija. But don't worry you won't be here
longer than what it takes to see the beauty of
the "ciudad de las torres." Upon arrival in
Carmona you will journey to the Roman
Necropolis, which contains more than nine
hundred family tombs dating from the
second century BC to the fourth century AD.
Then…at long last, prepare your big
goodbyes for a fabulous farewell dinner at
the hotel Parador de Carmona!
DAY 14, DEPARTURE FROM SPAIN
Today you will
check out of the hotel and find your way
back home.
